There are a number of regular tango classes within a thirty or forty minute drive of La Grange, as you can see from this map — http://www.chicagotango.info/chicago-area-tango/tango-map/. In addition to the events listed on http://chicagotango.info, you can find lots of weekly classes listed on tangomango.org.

You might also check out the “Chicago Mini Tango Festival” which will be held April 19-22, 2012 at the Rosemont O’Hare, which includes an intensive program for beginners — http://chicagotangofestival.com — as well as classes with a number of world-class teachers from Buenos Aires.

North shore tango lessons I’m familiar with right now are available during the school year at Northwestern University in Evanston on Monday evenings at 7:30 and in Arlington Heights on Monday and Tuesday evenings. Most milongas in Chicago not held at restaurants are byob with $10/$15 entrance fees and light snacks provided. Generally men where slacks and nice shirts, but few jackets or ties; while women typically where dresses or skirts/tops. Richard

Argentine Tango is an ultimate relationship dance. It is a conversation without words, that comes from the heart. So I wish to all Tango lovers to have a great time dancing in Chicago. I’m drinking smoothies to give my body a healthy boost. Great for long and exhaustive dancing lessons!

I did meet an Aussie tango addict last time I was in Buenos Aires, but not sure what happened to her. I’m going back in August.
